This is for the fans of Thalia. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About THALIA (Official Page) WELCOME to Thalia's MySpace page for Fans! Thalia Ariadna Sodi Miranda was born on August 26th, 1971 in Mexico City and the name of the maternity was "Espanol". The youngest of five children, (Laura, Gabriela, Federica, Emestina) Thalia was considered by her mother and manager, Yolanda Miranda, as a sweet and sensitive girl. Her family, when she was little, were calling her "Yuya". Her father, Ernesto Sodi, died when she was 5 years old, silencing her for a year. When she was 6 years old she scribed to a school ballet. So she eventually moved on with her life and at the age of 10 became a member of Din Din, a music group consisting of 2 girls and 2 boys. They released 4 albums together before joining Timbiriche in 1986. But there was some personal turmoil within the members of Timbiriche, prompting Thalia to leave in 1989, and released her first solo album in 1990, simply titled "Thalia". Mundo de Cristal, Love, En Extasis, and Amor a la Mexicana followed, each very successful in Latin America and around the world. Her first televisual appearance was at the airing "Estudiantinas Estudian". Her first telenovela (soap opera) was Pobre Senorita Limatour in 1987, followed by Quinceanera in 1988, Luz y Sombra (Light and Shade) in 1989, Maria Mercedes in 1992, Marimar (her most popular telenovela) in 1994, and Maria La Del Barrio in 1996 (my favorite). Her last one (for now) is Rosalinda (1999). Over the years, she's won countless awards and honors throughout Latin America, most recently the Premio Lo Nuestro (the Lo Nuestro awards) for Best Female Vocalist. Fascination with Thalia reached such heights, than on April 25, 1997, the city of Los Angeles celebrated "Thalia Day," and several months later a wax figure of the star was unveiled in Mexico City. Her first English album consisted of 3 hit singles including the smash top ten hit "I want you" ft Rapper Fat Joe. Thalia then after still promoting her Spanish Album and English Album then launched her own clothing line, Magazine and line of hocolates under contract with Hersheys. After big success for 3 consecutive years, Thalia returned in 2005 to release her eleventh studio album titled " El Sexto Sentido" later in time Thalía was the 'godmother' of "Cantando Por Un Sueño", a Mexican TV reality show to which was rumored she got paid 1 million dollars to perform on opening night. Once again she proved to be the favorite and "Cantando Por Un Sueño" was viewed by 45% of all the Mexican Audience during the entire day. Thalía recorded the title song of the show, and it was included in El Sexto Sentido Re+Loaded (a re-released version of Thalia's Sexto Sentido album). It was released in Mexico on February 13, 2006 (U.S. June 6, Spain May 29) and features four new songs, including a duet with the group Aventura "No, No, No". This is Thalía's new single in USA, while the ballad "Olvídame" is the fourth single in the rest of the world. El Sexto Sentido was nominated in one Latin Billboard category - "Pop Female Album" and in eight Premios Juventud categories. Also, Thalía was one of the guests of Miss Universe 2006 with Shakira and Luis Fonsi. Last year, Thalía officially became a U.S. citizen at a swearing-in ceremony in New York, where she resides with her husband. Under Mexican law she is allowed to retain her Mexican citizenship. Last year Thalia announced that she was pregnant and that she would be having a Girl! Thalia also released her long awaited Beuty Tips Book "Belleza" and Radio Show "Conexion Thalia"! Now in 2008 The Pop Diva is back with "Lunada" featuring her first single "Ten Paciencia"! Thalia signed a contract with the chocolate, Hershey's. Where she appears in the Spanish's advertisements and she also seels her own Hershey's products called La Dulceria Thalia. Thalia won an International Dance Music Award for her hit Dance, Dance (The Mexican). Thalia's English album Thalia sold 150,000 in its first weeks in the United States, and in Japan it sold over 200,000 copies. Her hit A Quien Le Importa was #1 for six consecutive weeks on the Top Latin Albums Chart, reaching #22 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Thalía performed Tú y Yo at the 2002 Latin Billboard Awards. Thalia has been named one of the 25 most beautiful people by the magazine People en Español many times. Since 2006, April 21st has been declared Day of Thalia in LA. Teamed up with K-Mart in 2004 to create her own clothing line, the Thalia Sodi Collection. She is currently the March of Dimes spokeswoman for premature births. | Photos | Aug 29, 2008 |
